What does Crestwood recommend for integrations and data migration?
Crestwood relies on a variety of proven integration software tools depending on the specific application requirements, but one product can be relied on to do the most intensive and demanding integrations.
Scribe Insight from Scribe Software
Scribe Insight is a data migration and integration software package developed by Scribe Software, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, that can be utilized with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and Dynamics CRM. Crestwood leverages Scribe Insight extensively to develop integration solutions for clients that require the bidirectional flow of data between Dynamics GP and/or Dynamics CRM and other external applications or databases.
Scribe has created a series of “adapters” that map the external integrations to the application APIs (Application Programming Interface). Leveraging the APIs ensures that the data migrated into Dynamics GP and Dynamics CRM adheres to the application business rules, so only valid transactions are created in the systems. The Adapter for Dynamics GP leverages Microsoft’s eConnect product – a developer tool set that enables a two way connection between Dynamics GP and external systems. The Scribe Adapter for Dynamics GP makes eConnect transparent to the user.
Additionally, Scribe comes with a management console that makes it easy to manage integrations from your desktop. Through the console, you can monitor integration activity and create a schedule for your integrations. You decide how often and what event will trigger a Scribe integration to run between Dynamics GP and/or Dynamics CRM. For example, an integration can be scheduled to run daily, weekly or monthly at a pre-determined time. The console can be set to detect the presence of a file in a specific folder and once detected, an integration will be launched. The console also has the ability to monitor changes made to certain data and when a change is detected, an integration is then launched. Finally, the console can send email notifications to specified users when an integration fails.
Scribe is also utilized to integrate Dynamics GP and Dynamics CRM in real-time, which delivers single point of entry of data across both applications. Scribe Software has developed pre-written templates that can be leveraged for the Dynamics GP and Dynamics CRM integration and are available to download free to existing Scribe customers. Scribe Insight also monitors change points in Dynamics CRM and Dynamics GP and when specified changes are detected, integrations are automatically run to keep data synchronized. The pre-written Scribe Insight templates greatly reduce the time required to set up the interface to meet your specific needs.
Microsoft Dynamics Integration Manager
Integration Manager is a module available from Microsoft for Dynamics GP that is used to integrate data into the business application. Integration Manager is a very powerful tool that utilizes the business logic of Dynamics GP to validate the data brought into the system so that only accurate records are migrated into the Microsoft SQL Server database supporting Dynamics GP.
Integration Manager is the primary tool utilized by the Crestwood team to migrate master data records (i.e. Chart of Accounts, Customer Master, Vendor Master, Item Master, Employee Master, etc.) into Dynamics GP as part of a deployment project. Integration Manager is a tool that can be easily supported by a Dynamics GP user so that required recurring integrations can be run on a regular basis.
